            (5-9)  Susan Lessard, of Bangor, on her retirement after a 45-year career in public service.  Ms. Lessard served as town manager for Livermore Falls, Fayette, Vinalhaven, Hampden and most recently Bucksport.  Her steady leadership, resilience and innovation have left a lasting and positive legacy.  She is widely regarded for her expertise in municipal finance, community development and solid waste management and for her ability to navigate communities through both hardship and opportunity.  She worked in Bucksport during a time of transition and economic loss following the closure of the town's paper mill.  Under her leadership, the community rebounded and redefined itself.  It welcomed new developments, including a maritime training center and a modern power plant, while also revitalizing its Main Street and expanding access to grants and infrastructure improvements.  Ms. Lessard has been recognized with many awards throughout her career, including the Governor's Environmental Excellence Award, the Maine Engineering Excellence Award and the Maine Town and City Manager's Association Leadership Award.  She received a United States Coast Guard Public Service Commendation for her role in the transfer of 35 Maine lighthouses to local governments and nonprofit organizations.  She also played a key role in state-level environmental protection efforts, serving on the Board of Environmental Protection since 2007.  We extend our appreciation and best wishes;

            (5-10)  Jerry Dauphinee, of Bowdoinham, who won the Maine State Championship Free Throw Contest and went on to place 5th in the Nation.  Jerry entered a Nationwide Elks Hoop Shoot contest at the Brunswick Recreation Center that was sponsored by Elks Brunswick Lodge #2043.  Jerry won that competition and moved on to the District competition located in Bath, where Jerry won again and earned the Ron Nygaard Award for Top Performer of all the boys age groups.  He then won the state competition at Bangor High School and went on to represent Maine as the Maine State Champion in the New England Regionals, where he made 24 out of 25 free throws.  After winning regionals, he and his family headed to Chicago for the National Finals on April 26, 2025, where Jerry represented Maine and New England and competed against the winners from a total of 12 regions across the United States, earning 5th place in the Nation in the 8/9 boys group.  We extend our congratulations and best wishes;
