           (5-24)  Marty Sabol, of Springvale, who recently retired as Director of Health Services at Nasson Health Care after working for decades to improve people's health and quality of life.  Mr. Sabol was an early leader in addressing the AIDS epidemic in northern and central Maine, worked as a health educator for the City of Bangor, led statewide efforts to ensure access to health coverage working at the Maine Primary Care Association and worked for the City of Portland before working to create and operate Nasson Health Care, an innovator in providing interdisciplinary care.  He has served on numerous state and national boards, including those of Community Care Partners of Maine, the Maine Primary Care Association and the National Healthcare for the Homeless Association, among others.  We extend our appreciation and best wishes;

In Memory of:

 

           (5-28)  Peter "Scotty" Napolitano, of Portland.  Mr. Napolitano was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War.  He worked for Phillip Morris as a salesman before moving on to Nappi Distributors.  He later worked for 22 years at Bath Iron Works before retiring.  He was a lifelong communicant of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Portland.  Mr. Napolitano will be long remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 59 years, Marie, his family and friends and all those whose lives he touched;

           (5-29)  Anita Doff Wallerstein, of Portland.  A trailblazer in the workplace, Mrs. Wallerstein was an editor at the New Haven Register in Connecticut for over 30 years and in 1962 was selected as New England Newspaper Woman of the Year.  She shattered the glass ceiling in publishing, winning a 12-year sex bias lawsuit for equal pay in the workplace.  Mrs. Wallerstein will be long remembered and sadly missed by her family and friends and all those whose lives she touched;

           (5-30)  Janice Murphy, of Portland.  Sister Janice Murphy, R.S.M., worked for a short time before entering the Sisters of Mercy in Portland in 1962.  She spent several years in Brownville Junction doing pastoral work and teaching religion, worked for Catholic Charities at Holy Innocents Home Care and worked at Mercy Hospital in Portland in the EKG department. She then began her education ministry in the parochial school system and was assigned to St. Joseph School in Portland, St. Patrick School in Portland, St. Mary School in Biddeford and Cathedral Elementary School in Portland.  For 19 years, she ministered in the Presque Isle and Limestone parishes as Pastoral Associate and Resource Person for Aroostook County.  She then went to Washington County to work with parishioners in Eastport, Lubec and Pleasant Point.  Sister Janice will be long remembered and sadly missed by her family and friends and all those whose lives she touched;

           (5-31)  Alan Everett Kehew, of Harpswell.  Dr. Kehew was a veteran of the United States Navy.  In the Navy, he was trained as a weather observer and was stationed in Iceland and later at the Brunswick Naval Air Station.  After earning his PhD at the University of Idaho, he began his professional career at the North Dakota Geological Survey in the fall of 1977.  When a faculty position opened up in 1980, he became an assistant professor in the Department of Geology and Geological Engineering.  In 1986, he accepted a position in the Geology Department at Western Michigan University, where he remained for the next 34 years, moving from assistant to full professor and department chair from 1997 to 2002.  He was elected to a fellowship in the Geological Society of America for his research contributions and was awarded the Western Michigan University Distinguished Service Award in 2013.  In retirement, he moved to Harpswell.  Dr. Kehew will be long remembered and sadly missed by his family and friends and all those whose lives he touched;

           (5-32)  Raymond Poulin, of Waterville.  Mr. Poulin was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard and a retired Waterville Fire Chief.  He joined Engine 3 Company of the Waterville Fire Department as a volunteer in 1973.  In 1976, he was hired as a full-time firefighter.  He worked on both the rescue and the ladder truck before becoming the lead driver of Engine 1.  He remained on Engine 1 until 1994, when he was promoted to Assistant Fire Chief.  He was promoted to Fire Chief in 1999.  He supervised 18 career firefighters, 34 call firefighters and an administrative assistant.  He was instrumental in implementing and overseeing construction of a new fire station and also worked to create a new regional emergency medical service operation with area towns.  He served as the second vice-president of the Maine Fire Chiefs' Association. Mr. Poulin will be long remembered and sadly missed by his family and friends and all those whose lives he touched;

           (5-33)  the Honorable Michael Wayne Quint, of Hodgdon. Mr. Quint worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance and for many years at AAA, from which he retired.  He served in the Maine House of Representatives representing Portland from 1992 to 2002.  In the Legislature, he served on the health and human services committee and the criminal justice and public safety committee.  Mr. Quint will be long remembered and sadly missed by his family and friends and all those whose lives he touched;

           (5-34)  Christopher R. Sherrill, of Southport.  The Reverend Christopher Sherrill was an Episcopalian priest whose life of study, activism and pastoral care led him from Pennsylvania to Missouri, Connecticut, Washington, D.C. and New Jersey.  In addition to leading congregations, he served on the Board of Medical Education for South African Blacks during apartheid and on the Standing Committee of the Diocese of Washington, and he was three times a candidate for Bishop.  In June 1967, he preached his first Sunday service at All Saints by-the-Sea in Southport, where he continued to conduct services for over 50 years. Retiring in 2001, he moved permanently to Southport.  In his retirement, he had leading roles at the Boothbay Playhouse, worked with other clergies to found Boothbay's Community Resource Council and helped to found the Free Clothing Closets.  He also served for several years as a moderator at the Southport Annual Meeting and in other civic endeavors.  The Reverend Christopher Sherrill will be long remembered and sadly missed by his family and friends and all those whose lives he touched;
