Representative Jeffrey Evangelos

Rep. Evangelos is returning to the Maine House of Representative for his fourth non-consecutive term. He currently serves on the Judiciary Committee. Previously, Jeff served on the State & Local Government Committee, the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee, and the House Ethics Committee.

Evangelos has an extensive career in public administration. He obtained his Bachelor’s Degrees in Economics and History at Brockport State University, then his Master of Arts in American History at the University of Maine/Orono in 1974. He was the Vanceboro Town Administrator, Warren Town Manager and then Business Administrator / Assistant to the Superintendent of Schools of SAD40. Evangelos also has experience as a small business owner, running an international import company for twenty years.

Evangelos is a self-sufficient farmer and New England sports enthusiast. He enjoys fishing all over Maine’s rivers and streams, as well as conducting documentary historical research. He was also on the Board of Directors for the Waldo Theater in Waldoboro. Jeff is married to Harolyn York, has two children, four grandchildren, and a pet cow.

Matters That Are Handled By The Judiciary Committee:  Judicial system organization and budget; criminal procedure; civil procedure; civil actions, including torts and medical malpractice; Maine Tort Claims Act; liability; immunity; child protection; family law; domestic relations; child support; adoption; legal services; attorneys; Attorney General; District Attorneys; abortion and reproductive rights; civil rights; medical rights; human rights; Maine Human Rights Commission; protection from harassment; protection from abuse; guardianship and conservatorship; probate law; property law; property rights; unclaimed property; business and nonprofit organizations; Uniform Commercial Code; laws relating to Maine’s Indian Tribes, including the Maine Indian Land Claims Settlement Act; Maine Indian Tribal-State Commission; freedom of access, confidentiality and privacy laws; and errors and inconsistencies.
