Resolves

CHAPTER 88

Resolve, to Name the Newly Constructed Route 2 Palmyra Bridge in Memory of Trooper Thomas J. Merry

     Emergency preamble. Whereas, Acts and resolves of the Legislature do not become effective until 90 days after adjournment unless enacted as emergencies; and

     Whereas, a new bridge has been built in Palmyra on Route 2 that crosses the Sebasticook River; and

     Whereas, the bridge is currently unnamed and it is necessary that this new bridge have a designation for identification purposes; and

     Whereas, in the judgment of the Legislature, these facts create an emergency within the meaning of the Constitution of Maine and require the following legislation as immediately necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety; now, therefore, be it

     Sec. 1. Naming the Route 2 Palmyra Bridge. Resolved: That the new bridge constructed on Route 2 in Palmyra crossing the Sebasticook River be named in memory of Maine State Trooper Thomas J. Merry.

     Emergency clause. In view of the emergency cited in the preamble, this resolve takes effect when approved.

Effective February 25, 1998.
