Health and Human Services and the Governor. The task force is not
authorized to introduce legislation. Following receipt and review
of a final report by January 15, 2007, the joint standing committee
of the Legislature having jurisdiction over health and human
services matters may report out a bill to the First Regular Session
of the 123rd Legislature; and be it further

 
Sec. 11. Task force budget. Resolved: That the chair of the task force,
with assistance from the task force staff, shall administer the
task force's budget. Within 10 days after its first meeting, the
task force shall present a work plan and proposed budget to the
Legislative Council for its approval. The task force may not
incur expenses that would result in the task force's exceeding
its approved budget. Upon request from the task force, the
Executive Director of the Legislative Council shall promptly
provide the task force chair and staff with a status report on
the task force budget, expenditures incurred and paid and
available funds.

 
Emergency clause. In view of the emergency cited in the preamble,
this resolve takes effect when approved.

 
SUMMARY

 
This resolve establishes the Task Force to Study Cervical
Cancer Prevention, Detection and Education. The purpose of the
task force is to raise public awareness of the causes and nature
of cervical cancer, personal risk factors, value of prevention,
early detection, options for testing, treatment costs, new
technology and medical care reimbursement. The task force is
also charged with several other duties, including, but not
limited to, identifying preventive strategies and new
technologies, including newly introduced vaccines that are
effective in preventing and controlling the risk of cervical
cancer. The members of the task force are appointed by the
Governor, the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the
House. The task force shall submit its final report to the
Governor and the joint standing committee of the Legislature
having jurisdiction over health and human services matters by
January 15, 2007.
