Sec. 1. 12 MRSA §1874, sub-§1 is enacted to read:

1.__Annual report.__The director shall submit a written report on or before March 1st of each year to the joint standing committee of the Legislature having jurisdiction over the waterway.__The report must include the following information for the previous calendar year:

A.__A complete financial account of income and expenditures pertaining to the waterway;

B.__A summary of use of the waterway, including a breakdown of day use and overnight use;

C.__A summary of management activities on the waterway and steps taken to develop the maximum wilderness character of the waterway;

D.__A description of steps taken to ensure compliance with the waterway's status under the federal Wild and Scenic Rivers Act, 16 United States Code, Sections 1271 to 1287; and

E.__A description of any anticipated changes in management strategy and issues of continuing concern in the subsequent report period.

SUMMARY

This bill requires the Director of the Bureau of Parks and Lands to submit an annual report relating to management and use of the Allagash Wilderness Waterway to the joint standing committee of jurisdiction.
