(5-4) Raymond S. Williams, of Gorham, who is retiring as a captain with the Windham Police Department after nearly 40 years of service. Captain Williams began his law enforcement career as a part-time officer for the department in 1985 and started working full time in September 1986. He served as a patrol officer, a detective, a patrol sergeant and most recently as Captain in Charge of Patrol Operations. He developed and implemented the Windham Police Motorcycle Unit and became involved in the department's firearms program, eventually becoming the lead instructor and instructing at the state level. He was also a statewide instructor in impaired driving as an intoxilyzer instructor, was one of the first drug recognition experts in the State and was recognized by the Maine Criminal Justice Academy for 30 years of service in this capacity. We extend our appreciation and best wishes;

In Memory of: (5-31) Mary Anne Seidel, of Brunswick. In her early years in the field of nursing, Ms. Seidel worked as a nurse at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City. In Boston, she became a clinical nurse specialist at Tufts Children's Hospital, eventually teaching nursing at Boston College. In the late 1970s, she moved to Seattle and continued nursing at Seattle Children's Hospital while she earned a master's degree in sociology from the University of Washington and completed course work for a doctorate. She taught nursing for many years at Seattle University before retiring to Brunswick to be near her family in 2009. An active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Parish in Seattle, she continued her church affiliation here at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. Ms. Seidel will be long remembered and sadly missed by her family and friends and all those whose lives she touched;

(5-32) Joel Theriault, of Caribou. Mr. Theriault served in the United States Army during the Korean War as a paratrooper. He was a member of Lister-Knowlton Post 9389 Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a past state commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 15, the Caribou Snowmobile Club and the Van Buren ATV Club. He was a longtime faithful member of the Parish of the Precious Blood. Mr. Theriault will be long remembered and sadly missed by his family and friends and all those whose lives he touched;

(5-33) Jerome C. Purinton, of Brunswick. Mr. Purinton was a veteran of the United States Army, serving as a medic in Germany. He owned and operated a poultry farm, named Purinton Farms, from 1967 to 1987. At the height of his business, he had 98,000 chickens and also assisted Wolfe Neck Farms with their Penneville Road cattle operations for over 20 years. He then worked for Charles Rooney, a local contractor, and later for Portland Glass before working with his son Anthony at Stetson's Funeral Home in Brunswick. He served on the supervisory committee and numerous boards of St. Charles Credit Union, now Midcoast Federal Credit Union, and was a lifelong member of St. Charles Borromeo Church. He sang in the church choir and for 41 years in the Nor'easters barbershop chorus. Mr. Purinton will be long remembered and sadly missed by his wife of over 65 years, Joan, his family and friends and all those whose lives he touched;

(5-34) Gerald "Gary" Dawbin, formerly of Winthrop. Mr. Dawbin was a veteran of the Air National Guard. He worked for General Electric in Schenectady, New York, Central Maine Power in Augusta, the Maine Energy Office, Augusta Public Schools and Bates College. He enjoyed giving back to his community by coaching local youth sports and gymnastics, joining numerous civic groups and participating local politics. Mr. Dawbin will be long remembered and sadly missed by his family and friends and all those whose lives he touched;
