JOINT RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE CUMBERLAND HISTORICAL SOCIETY ON THE GRAND OPENING OF ITS RESTORED HEADQUARTERS
WHEREAS,the Cumberland Historical Society has restored its headquarters building; and
WHEREAS, constructed as a brick schoolhouse in 1853, the building served as an elementary school for nearly 100 years before it became the town hall and police station;and
WHEREAS, the Cumberland Historical Society took occupancy of the building in 1989and the building was moved to the library grounds in 2020, where it underwent a total renovation;and
WHEREAS, the headquarters now provides a beautiful space for welcoming visitors and displaying the Town of Cumberland’s rich history; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED: That We, the Members of the One Hundred and Thirty-first Legislature now assembled in the First Special Session, on behalf of the people we represent, take this opportunity to congratulate the Cumberland Historical Society on the grand opening of its restored headquarters.

In Memory of: (5-24) Albert Edward Hodson III, of Fairfield. Mr. Hodson was a licensed engineer, water operator and wastewater treatment plant operator and a site evaluator for several New England States. He founded A.E. Hodson Engineers. He served on many boards, including those of Efficiency Maine, the State of Maine Tax Board, the Manufactured Housing Board and the Maine Water Utilities Association. He also served his community of Fairfield by participating with the Kennebec Water District, the Kennebec Sanitary Treatment District, the Solid Waste Committee and the Budget Committee. The Town of Fairfield dedicated its 2022 Town Report in his memory. Mr. Hodson will be long remembered and sadly missed by his family and friends and all those whose lives he touched;

(5-25) Michelle "Mickey" Worth, of Ellsworth. Mrs. Worth worked as a social worker employed by Community Health and Counseling Services from 1991 to 2016. She was active in the Unitarian Universalist Church of Ellsworth and A.A. Mrs. Worth will be long remembered and sadly missed by her husband of 45 years, the Honorable J. Mark Worth, her family and friends and all those whose lives she touched;

(5-26) the Honorable Arlan Jodrey, of Bethel. Mr. Jodrey was a veteran of the United States Army Reserve. Employed by the Portland Pipeline from 1953 until his retirement, he served as a Selectman for the Town of Bethel for 19 years, was a member of the town's Budget Committee and Planning Board, worked as an assessor and served as a volunteer firefighter for Bethel for over 30 years. He was a member of the Bethel Historical Society and a member of the Bethel Airport Authority, for which he received an award in 2022 for 30 years of service. He served on the Advisory Committee, and then the Executive Committee, of the Maine Municipal Association from 1988 to 1991. For many years, he was on the Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments Transportation Committee. In 1990, he was awarded the Henry Hastings Citizenship Award. He served many years with the Oxford County Soil and Water Conservation District. He served 4 terms in the Maine Legislature, from 1998 to 2006. He was President and then Vice President of the Riverside Cemetery Association from 2008 until 2019, and he was a part of the Veteran's Honor Roll Park committee from 2011 to 2022. He and his wife, Ellie, who were tree farmers, were recognized as Maine Tree Farmers of the Year in 2002 and received a Northeast Regional Tree Farmer Award. He also was a Director and Trustee of the Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield, Massachusetts. Mr. Jodrey will be long remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 61 years, Ellie, his family and friends and all those whose lives he touched;

(5-27) John Douglas Wakefield, of Westbrook. Mr. Wakefield had a 26-year career with the State of Maine, retiring as the Maine Legislature's Director of the Office of Fiscal and Program Review. He later came out of retirement to work for the Maine State Retirees Association. A former resident of Livermore, he served 27 years on the school board and also 15 years on the board of selectpersons, including as chair. Mr. Wakefield will be long remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 57 years, Nancy, his family and friends and all those whose lives he touched;
