Dear Business Owner:

Maineís small businesses are facing a crisis when it comes to the rising costs of providing health insurance to their employees and even their own families.  I donít have to tell you about the 20-50% premium increases that you and many other businesses are facing and I donít have to tell you how hard it is to have to either ask your employees to pay more or even to stop offering health insurance all together.

I do want to tell you more about a chance to help Maine businesses, working families, and self-employed Mainers to get and keep affordable access to health care and prescription drugs.  LD 1784, An Act to Lower Costs in the Small Group Market, aims to create an innovative program to help use federal dollars, administrative efficiency, and market power to offer a low cost alternative to the current offerings in the small group market, the Maine Small Business Health Coverage Plan.

You may have heard about this plan in the news or from other business people in your community, I want to give you as much information as I can so you can judge for yourself if this plan is right for you, right for your employees, and right for you families.

If you are interested in receiving more information about the Maine Small Business Health Coverage Plan, please let me know and I will be happy to send you information or draw your attention to our website at: http://janus.state.me.us/house/spk_main.htm and I would be delighted to answer any questions you may have.

Thank you for you time and consideration, I look forward to working with you.  Please feel free to contact me if I can be any assistance to you.

                                                                                    Sincerely,
