SPECIAL SENTIMENT CALENDAR

 

            In accordance with House Rule 519 and Joint Rule 213, the following items:

 

Recognizing:

 

            (5-1)  Breac William Baker, of Hartland, a member of Boy Scout Troop No. 404, who has attained the high rank and distinction of Eagle Scout.  This is the highest award in Boy Scouting and is given for excellence in skills development, leadership, personal growth and community service.  For his Eagle Scout project, Breac cleared and built four lunch sites for the local land trust.  We extend our congratulations to Breac on this achievement;

            (5-2)  Norma Boothby, of Livermore, who has received a Spirit of America Foundation Award.  The Spirit of America Foundation was established to encourage and promote volunteerism, and the foundation presents awards to honor local individuals, organizations or projects in appreciation of community service.  We send our congratulations to Ms. Boothby on her receiving this award;

            (5-3)  Amanda Winslow, of Mapleton, who is a recipient of the Secretary of State's Eighth Grade Citizenship Award.  This award is given to honor outstanding eighth-grade students for their civic awareness, scholastic achievement and community service.  We extend to Amanda our congratulations and best wishes;

In Memory of:

 

            (5-4)  Nancy Jean Nevins, of Augusta.  Ms. Nevins worked as an operator for New England Telephone Company and later worked for Women, Work and Community/New Ventures Maine through the University of Maine at Augusta, retiring in 2001.  She was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church.  Ms. Nevins will be long remembered and sadly missed by her family and friends;
