§12742. Health Workforce Retraining Program
The president of the system shall establish the Health Workforce Retraining Program for the purpose of making these education and training programs available to eligible businesses and organizations, including, but not limited to, hospitals, long-term care facilities and other health care facilities, to support the training and retraining of health care employees to address changes in the health care workforce. The education and training programs must be established on the basis of need for workers in a particular area of health care.

Rules established.
The president of the system shall adopt rules to establish:

Criteria for eligible health care businesses and organizations;

B.
Guidelines for the establishment of education and training programs through a request-for-proposal procedure; and

C.
Procedures for establishing a matching grant program allowing state funds to match contributions from the private sector.

2.
Program lapses.
The Health Workforce Retraining Program under subsection 1 is based on a 50-50 partnership between the State and the private sector. If, by June 30, 2003, there are no funds from the private sector to be matched by state funds, the program expires and all state funds lapse to the General Fund.
