Sec. SS-1. 34-B MRSA §1208, sub-§7 is enacted to read:
7. Community agency staff retention. The commissioner shall, through contracts and service agreements with community agencies, provide funding to retain qualified direct-care workers employed by community mental retardation services providers.
Sec. SS-2. Appropriation. The following funds are appropriated from the General Fund to carry out the purposes of this Part.

Mental Retardation Services - Community

Provides funds for wage increases to direct care workers employed by community mental retardation services providers. These wage increases will ensure that no direct care worker will receive less that $8.15 per hour and will further provide for a 4% cost-of-living increase for such workers who are presently receiving an hourly wage of $7.85 or more.
Medicaid Services - Mental Retardation
