§26208

§26207. Notification of child death

The Department of Health and Human Services shall notify the Child Advocate of a death of a child if:   [PL 2025, c. 724, §3 (NEW); PL 2025, c. 724, §13 (AFF).]
1.  Child welfare involvement.  The child was involved with child welfare services at any time; or

2.  Abuse or neglect.  The fatality is suspected of being the result of abuse or neglect as defined in Title 22, section 4002, subsection 1.

Notification under this section must occur within 48 hours of a determination by the department that this section applies to the child death. The notification may be provided by oral or electronic communication.   [PL 2025, c. 724, §3 (NEW); PL 2025, c. 724, §13 (AFF).]
