Representative Patricia Hymanson
  Representing: Ogunquit, Sanford (part), Wells (part) and York (part)
District #4

Rep. Patty Hymanson is serving her fourth term in the Maine House of Representatives. She is a member of the Appropriations Committee, having previously served as the House chair of the Health and Human Services Committee.

Hymanson is a neurologist who has practiced in the area for over 25 years. A graduate of Yale University and New York Medical College, she worked in her own neurology practice as well as at several hospitals. She has taught at Harvard Medical School and Boston City Hospital. 

Hymanson was a two-term member of the York School Committee, serving as chair for several years. She has also been chair of the board of Families First Health and Support Center, the community health center safety net that serves the Seacoast area, and helped establish two local non-profit organizations, the York Diversity Forum and healthcareGIVES. She was Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Portsmouth Regional Hospital and Maine delegate to Congress in support of people facing neurological disorders. She is also a longtime singer with Voices from the Heart.

Hymanson has lived in York with her husband, Alan Hymanson, M.D., for over 30 years. They have three adult children.

Rep. Hymanson is a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Appropriations and Financial Affairs.

Brief description of the subject matter handled by the committee: General Fund appropriations and general fiscal policy; federal funds allocations; special revenue and block grant allocations; Budget Stabilization Fund; unappropriated surplus; bond issues; collective bargaining funding; review of revenue estimates; budgeting methodologies, review of financial orders; financial evaluation of agencies of state government; Maine Public Employees Retirement System; retirement eligibility and benefits for state and municipal employees, including teachers; judicial and legislative retirement systems.
