Requiring the
Department of Corrections to establish and maintain a reentry services
program for residents of correctional facilities that makes available a range
services, including accessing available MaineCare benefits may increase
General Fund costs to the Department of Health and Human Services under
MaineCare and the MaineCare Re-entry Waiver Program, specifically. A more
precise estimate of the fiscal impact to the waiver program is not possible
as the extent to which this requirement may increase utilization of MaineCare
services by residents exiting correctional facilities is not known. |
|
Any additional
costs to the Department of Corrections from the provisions of this bill are
expected to be minor and can be absorbed within existing budgeted resources. |
