Correctional and Judicial Impact Statements
This bill may increase the number of civil suits filed in the court system. The additional workload associated with the minimal number of new cases filed in the court system does not require additional funding at this time. The collection of additional filing fees will increase General Fund revenue by minor amounts.
Fiscal Detail and Notes
The Department of the Secretary of State  will require Highway Fund allocations of $558,117 in fiscal year 2025-26 and $522,599 in fiscal year 2026-27 for 2 Motor Vehicle Compliance Inspector positions, one Office Specialist II position, one Motor Vehicle Detective position, vehicle leasing costs and other related costs to investigate violations related to failure of independent repair facilities to reimburse for repairs failing to meet industry standards or resulting in further damage or defect to the motor vehicles.
