This bill may
increase the number of civil suits filed in the court system. The additional
workload associated with the minimal number of new cases filed in the court
system does not require additional funding at this time. The collection of
additional filing fees will increase General Fund revenue by minor amounts. |

|
Highway Fund
revenue will be increased by $430,000 in fiscal year 2027-28 and 2028-29 from
increased fines for speeding tickets during the pilot project. |
|
The Maine
Turnpike Authority has estimated that the 3 year pilot project will cost
approximately $1-2 million. |
|
Any additional
costs to the Departments of Public Safety and Secretary of State to implement
the provisions of this bill are expected to be minor and can be absorbed
within existing budgeted resources. |
