This bill includes
a General Fund appropriation of $150,000 in fiscal year 2026-27 to the
University of Maine System to support the first year of a 2-year Working
Waterfront Infrastructure Engineer Corps Pilot Program established to provide
expertise in engineering, planning and permitting to restore and protect the
State's working waterfront and other vulnerable infrastructure. The
University of Maine System will require an additional General Fund
appropriation of $150,000 in fiscal year 2027-28 to support the second year
of the pilot program. |

Additional costs
to the Maine Commission for Community Service, the Maine Community College
System, the University of Maine System and Maine Maritime Academy to
collaborate to conduct the feasibility study can be absorbed within existing
budgeted resources. |
