The University of
Maine System (UMS) will require ongoing General Fund appropriations of
$750,000 per year beginning in fiscal
year 2025-26 for Networkmaine, which is a unit of UMS that provides
PreK-12 schools and public libraries in the state with Internet connectivity
through the Maine School and Library Network, to obtain a subscription to a
filtering technology to prevent the State's prekindergarten to grade 12
student and public library users from sending, receiving, viewing or
downloading materials that are child pornography or obscene matter or that
depict sexual exploitation of a minor. |
