This bill may
decrease the number of civil suits filed in the court system. The Judicial Branch may realize some minor
reduction of workload and administrative costs associated with the minimal
number of cases that will no longer be filed.
Collection of filing fees will decrease General Fund revenue by minor
amounts. |

This bill changes
the paid family and medical leave benefits program to a voluntary program and
requires all contributions paid into the fund to be returned to those
employers and self-employed individuals who paid into fund. The Department of Labor estimates that
approximately $95.0 million received from employers and self-employed
individuals will be returned in fiscal year 2025-26 as a result of this
legislation. This bill also requires
that any unspent General Fund dollars that were transferred as start-up funds
to the paid family and medical leave benefits program be returned to the
unappropriated surplus of the General Fund on or before June 30, 2026. The amount of funds that will be available
to be returned to the General Fund can not be estimated at this time. |
