Fiscal Detail and Notes
This amendment strikes all provisions of the bill except the section requiring the Department of Education (department) to develop professional development opportunities for educators in African American studies. The amendment removes the General Fund appropriations of $115,000 per year beginning in fiscal year 2025-26 to the Office of Workforce Development and Innovative Pathways within the department for supporting the work of the African American Studies Advisory Council (council) and for conducting statewide sampling of African American studies curricula in school administrative units. The amendment also removes  the Other Special Revenue Funds baseline allocation of $500 beginning in fiscal year 2026-27 to the  council within the department. The amendment also removes the ongoing General Fund appropriations of $2,800 per year beginning in fiscal year 2025-26 to the Legislature for the expenses of Legislators serving on the Council.

The amendment retains the General Fund appropriations to the Office of Workforce Development and Innovative Pathways within the department for developing professional development opportunities for educators in African American studies, but reduces the funding from $50,000 to $15,000 and converts it from ongoing funding to one-time funding.
