Correctional and Judicial Impact Statements
The amendment creates a Class C crime of using a firearm without a serial number while committing a Class A or Class B crime or while committing reckless conduct.  It also creates Class B crimes of knowingly possessing firearms without a serial number and manufacturing a firearm without a serial number.  The current average cost of incarcerating one individual for a single year is $55,203.  It is not known how many individuals may be incarcerated who otherwise would not be.  No additional funding has been included at this time.

The additional workload associated with the minimal number of new felony cases filed in the court system does not require additional funding at this time. The collection of additional fines will increase General Fund or other dedicated revenue by minor amounts.
