This bill may
increase the number of civil suits filed in the court system. The additional
workload associated with the minimal number of new cases filed in the court
system does not require additional funding at this time. The collection of
additional filing fees will increase General Fund revenue by minor amounts. |

The Department of
the Attorney General has indicated that additional staffing and resources are
necessary to carry out the additional legal reviews required as a result of
the provisions of this bill. Allocation for those positions would have been
funded by a reimbursement from the Department of Agriculture, Conservation
and Forestry, which would have required additional General Fund
appropriations. The bill does not include funding for these additional needs.
The fiscal impact of implementing the bill’s provisions without additional
resources cannot be determined at this time and may depend on the volume and
scope of reviews required. |
