Fiscal Detail and Notes
The bill includes a General Fund appropriation to the Department of Public Safety of $63,333 in fiscal year 2026-27 and a Highway Fund allocation of $34,102 in fiscal year 2026-27 for one State Bureau of Investigation Specialist and related All Other costs to administer a process for persons to apply for a restoration of civil rights. The bill also includes a one-time General Fund appropriation of $130,000 and a one-time Highway Fund allocation of $70,000 in fiscal year 2026-27 for computer programming costs to accept and process applications for restoration of a person's civil rights.
The bill includes General Fund appropriations to the Judicial Department of $486,956 in fiscal year 2026-27 to establish one Judge position, one Deputy Marshal position, and one Assistant Clerk position to implement the process of restoring a person's civil rights to possess firearms. The bill also includes a one-time General Fund appropriation of $50,000 for programming costs to update the transfer of electronic information to the Department of Public Safety.
