Fiscal Detail and Notes
This bill establishes the Maine Experiential Education Program within the Department of Agriculture, Conservation, and Forestry (DACF) to provide grants to public schools and school administrative units to develop experiential education programs and fund associated positions. The bill’s effective date is contingent upon securing federal, private, or other external funding. DACF has indicated that implementing this program would require additional staffing and resources. If funding is secured, it is estimated that the department would require allocations of $134,519 for one Public Service Coordinator I position and associated costs.
Additional costs to the Department of Education to collaborate with DACF can be absorbed within existing budgeted resources.
