The bill allows a
court to impose a sentence that includes commitment beyond 21 years of age
for a juvenile adjudicated of a Class A crime. This process could increase the adult
corrections system population. It is
unclear how many additional individuals could be committed to an adult
corrections facility who otherwise would not have been. The current average
cost of incarcerating one individual for a single year is $55,203. |
