Increasing the
weighted count in the school funding formula for economically disadvantaged
students under the Essential Programs and Services Fund Act from 0.15 to 0.25
beginning in fiscal year 2026-27 is estimated to increase the total cost of
public education from kindergarten to grade 12 by $70,294,211 per year. The General Purpose Aid for Local Schools
program within the Department of Education will require ongoing General Fund
appropriations of $38,661,817 per year beginning in fiscal year 2026-27 for
the state's share of that cost. The
additional cost to local school administrative units is estimated to be
$31,632,394 per year. |
