Fiscal Detail and Notes
Increasing the weighted count in the school funding formula for economically disadvantaged students under the Essential Programs and Services Fund Act from 0.15 to 0.25 beginning in fiscal year 2026-27 is estimated to increase the total cost of public education from kindergarten to grade 12 by $70,294,211 per year.  The General Purpose Aid for Local Schools program within the Department of Education will require ongoing General Fund appropriations of $38,661,817 per year beginning in fiscal year 2026-27 for the state's share of that cost.  The additional cost to local school administrative units is estimated to be $31,632,394 per year.
