The bill includes
General Fund appropriations to the Department of Health and Human Services of
$106,877 in fiscal year 2025-26 and $111,561 in fiscal year 2026-27 for one
Public Health Educator III position to provide educational outreach to
low-income residents regarding free water testing and grants for drinking
water systems. The bill also includes Other Special Revenue allocations of
$40,000 each year beginning in fiscal year 2026-27 to provide free water
testing for certain contaminants to low-income households. |

Additional costs
to the Maine State Housing Authority associated with consulting with the
Department of Health and Human Services regarding the availability of grants
under Title 30-A, section 4722, paragraph FF can be absorbed within existing
budgeted resources. |
