The bill includes General Fund appropriations of $743,618 in fiscal year 2025-26 and $633,835,in fiscal year 2026-27 and Highway Fund allocations of $400,409 in fiscal year 2025-26 and $341,080 in fiscal year 2026-27 to the Department of Public Safety for 2 Forensic Scientist positions, 4 DNA Forensic Analyst positions, 2 Forensic Chemist I positions, one-time architectural costs to study a possible crime lab expansion and related All Other costs to process and examine evidence in time for trial dates.
The bill also includes General Fund appropriations of $2,285,904 in fiscal year 2026-27 to the Office of the Attorney General for Personal Services funding for 12 additional Assistant District Attorney positions within the counties.
