The Department of Public Safety would require General Fund appropriations of $743,618 in fiscal year 2025-26 and $633,835 in fiscal year 2026-27 and Highway Fund allocations of $400,409 in fiscal year 2025-26 and $341,080 in fiscal year 2026-27 for 2 Forensic Scientist positions, 4 DNA Forensic Analyst positions, 2 Forensic Chemist I positions, one-time funding for architectural services for a possible crime lab expansion and related All Other costs to process and examine evidence in time for trial dates.
The Office of the Attorney General will require General Fund appropriations of $2,285,904 in fiscal year 2026-27 for Personal Services funding for 12 additional Assistant District Attorney positions within the counties.
