The Department of
Environmental Protection (DEP) has indicated that additional regulatory
oversight will be required to implement a prohibition on the use of certain
restricted substances in cosmetics sold in the state. This bill includes
ongoing General Fund appropriations of $206,592 starting in fiscal year
2025-26 to the DEP for one Environmental Specialist III position, one
Planning Research Associate II position, and associated position costs. This
fiscal note assumes that the final adoption of the proposed biennial budget
for fiscal years 2025-26 and 2026-27 will include a supervisory position
requested. If the supervisory position is not included, the department
indicated that the Research Associate II position would need to be upgraded
to an Environmental Specialist IV position, along with the associated
personal services costs. |
