This bill
authorizes, but does not require, the Commissioner of Administrative and
Financial Services to convey 3 parcels of state property by quitclaim deed.
The properties consist of 3 former court facilities located in York County,
none of which have been occupied since the State opened the York Judicial
Center in 2023. If neither the Maine State Housing Authority nor a local
public housing authority exercises the first option to purchase one or more
of the parcels for residential housing, the Commissioner may sell the
property through a competitive process. Any proceeds from the sale of these
parcels must be deposited in the Capital Construction and Improvement Reserve
Fund within the Department of Administrative and Financial Services. The
Governor's proposed supplemental budget for fiscal year 2024-25 includes
one-time funding in fiscal year 2023-24 to maintain the 3 former court
facilities in York County. |
