Fiscal Detail and Notes
This amendment makes a temporary change to the Department of Health and Human Services' (DHHS) rule Chapter 101: MaineCare Benefits Manual, Chapter III, Section 5, Ambulance Services, so that effective July 1, 2024 MaineCare Ambulance Services codes with Medicare equivalents are reimbursed at 140% of the current published Medicare rates through June 30, 2027. This amendment includes Other Special Revenue Funds allocations of $5,000,000 over 3 years to fund this temporary increase through June 30, 2027. Federal Expenditures Fund allocations are also included for the FMAP match.

This amendment transfers $15,000,000 from the Department of Public Safety (DPS), EMS Stabilization and Sustainability program, Other Special Revenue Funds account to the DHHS, Medical Care - Payments to Providers program. The funding is deallocated in DPS and allocated over 3 years in DHHS.
