This amendment
requires the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to expend any
portion of the amounts appropriated pursuant to Resolves 2023, c. 117 that
the DHHS has not expended and determines it could expend to support the
operations of Maine Veterans' Homes in providing care to MaineCare covered
residents who have received or are receiving residential care facility
services during fiscal year 2023-2024. It also requires the DHHS to seek any
approval from the United States Department of Health and Human Services,
Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, that may be necessary to ensure
that the unexpended portion of the amount appropriated in Resolves 2023, ch.
117 is used in conjunction with federal matching funds or for state-only room
and board costs to support Maine Veterans' Homes operations during fiscal
year 2023-24. As this requires the expenditure of funds that had been
previously appropriated, there is no net fiscal impact to this amendment. |
