This bill
requires the State Board of Education to adopt major substantive rules
prohibiting teachers in public schools from engaging in political, religious
or ideological advocacy in the classroom or from introducing any
controversial subject matter that is not germane to the topic of the course
being taught. The board will incur
additional ongoing costs to provide at least 3 hours of training each year to
instruct teachers on the rules as well as to provide the required written
notice to all teachers, parents and students of their respective rights and
responsibilities under the rules. The
total cost to the board associated with these requirements cannot be
determined at this time. |
