The bill includes
General Fund appropriations to the Department of Health and Human Services of
$7,990,674 in fiscal year 2023-24 and $15,981,348 in fiscal year 2024-25 to
establish a Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program State Supplement which
must be applied to SNAP households with a monthly federal benefit lower than
$95. If a SNAP household receives less than $95 in federal SNAP benefits, the
department shall provide a monthly supplement equal to the difference between
the amount the SNAP household receives and $95, so as to ensure that all
Maine SNAP households received a combined minimum benefit of $95 beginning
January 1, 2024. |
