This bill
provides a one-time General Fund appropriation of $48,000,000 in fiscal year
2022-23 and $9,600,000 in fiscal year 2023-24 for Supplemental Nutrition
Assistance Program benefit payments to continue for 6 months the expiring
federal Families First Coronavirus Response Act of 2020, COVID-19 emergency
allotments, which expired on March 1, 2023.
A more current estimate would increase the required funding to a total of
$58,300,000 and provide the appropriation in fiscal year 2023-24, as based on
the current timeline, no payments could be made in fiscal 2022-23. |
