Fiscal Detail and Notes
This bill includes a General Fund appropriation of $71,700 to the Judicial Department in fiscal year 2023-24 for a two-day Criminal Justice Sentencing Conference. An appropriation of the same amount will be required every other year for the Conference to occur at least once every two years. The cost is based on an estimate of 239 attendees at a cost of $300 each to cover facility fees, technology and equipment, meals for all attendees and lodging for a portion of attendees. Conference members include all Supreme Judicial Court, Superior Court and District Court Justices and Judges, all District Attorneys and all attorneys within the Criminal Division of the Office of the Attorney General. Law enforcement and correctional personnel, representatives of advisory and advocacy groups and representatives of the defense bar and others will also be invited to attend.
