Fiscal Detail and Notes
This amendment removes the requirement that the State Controller transfer $2,000,000 per year in fiscal years 2023-24 and 2024-25 from the unencumbered balance of the General Purpose Aid for Local Schools, General Fund carrying account within the Department of Education to the Office of Innovation program, also within the department, to be used for grants to school administrative units to support reading proficiency programming in schools. The amendment also eliminates the one-time Other Special Revenue Funds allocations of $2,000,000 per year in fiscal years 2023-24 and 2024-25 included in the bill to authorize the expenditure of the funds if available. The amendment adds a one-time General Fund appropriation of $200,000 in fiscal year 2024-25 to the Office of Innovation for grants to support reading proficiency programs in schools.
