This bill requires
the Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry (ACF) to conduct an
accessibility study of every Maine state park and historic site to identify
barriers to physical and program accessibility for individuals with
disabilities and to develop a remediation plan to prioritize and remove the
barriers. Due to the number of state parks and historic sites and current
staffing levels, the department has indicated that these requirements will
require additional resources to complete within the timeframe outlined in
this bill. The bill includes a one-time appropriation of $120,000 to the ACF
in fiscal year 2024-25 for contracted services to complete the study and
reporting requirements. |
