Increases the
penalty for trafficking fentanyl and other scheduled drugs containing a
detectable amount of fentanyl from a Class B crime to a Class A crime and
establishes a new Class B crime of unlawful use of an electronic
communication device in furtherance of fentanyl trafficking. The current
average cost of incarcerating one individual for a single year is
$55,203.
The additional workload associated with the minimal number of new felony
cases filed in the court system does not require additional funding at this
time.
The collection of additional fines will increase General Fund or other
dedicated revenue by minor amounts. |
