|
This bill
requires direct wine shippers to comply with the requirements of the Maine
beverage container laws. The direct
wine shippers will be required to register as an initiator of deposit with
the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP); the additional
registrations will result in a minor increase in Other Special Revenue Funds
revenue. If the direct shippers elect
not to participate in a commingling agreement, unclaimed deposits will revert
to the state; the additional General Fund revenue from the escheat is not
anticipated to be significant. Any
additional costs to the Bureau of Alcoholic Beverages and Lottery Operations
or to DEP to incorporate the changes in this bill are anticipated to be minor
and can be absorbed within existing budgeted resources. |
