Correctional and Judicial Impact Statements
There may be a minor reduction of workload associated with the minimal number of cases that will no longer be filed in the court system.
A reduction in fine revenue associated with removing the requirement that certain motor vehicles display a registration plate on the front of the vehicle will decrease General Fund and other dedicated revenue by minor amounts.
Fiscal Detail and Notes
Eliminating the requirement that front registration plates must be displayed on motor vehicles will allow annual Highway Fund deallocations of $221,499 beginning in fiscal year 2023-24 and annual Other Special Revenue Funds deallocations of $97,001 beginning in fiscal year 2023-24.  The Department of Secretary of State will require a one-time Highway Fund allocation of $7,056 in fiscal year 2023-24 for updates to computer programs.  There may be some additional costs for the collection and destruction of license plate and sticker materials.  It is assumed that there is no change to the current registration and license plate fees.
