Any cost impacts
of this bill are contingent on the State or a municipality enacting a future
law or ordinance imposing a moratorium on evictions of tenants for nonpayment
of rent. If the State or a municipality enacts such a moratorium, requiring
the State or municipality to reimburse landlords for rental income not
received for the duration of the moratorium will create costs to the General
Fund or the municipality. As it is not known whether the State or a
municipality may enact this type of law or ordinance, nor the extent to which
tenents may choose to stop paying rent, no estimate of cost can be made at
this time. |
