Fiscal Detail and Notes
The bill includes a General Fund appropriation of $58,855 in fiscal year 2022-23 for computer programming costs to add health insurance check-off boxes to the individual income tax return and to capture, collect and report the data. $55,000 of this cost is one-time and the remaining is ongoing.
The Department of Health and Human Services will incur additional costs beginning in fiscal year 2023-24 for additional medical claims for new members who enter MaineCare through easy enrollment. Other Special Revenue Funds allocations are also included for technology changes, postage and supplies to send requested information to those who check the box.
