Allowing local
school boards and collaboratives of local school boards to authorize public
charter schools in their school administrative units after the cap on the
number of public charter schools authorized by the Maine Charter School
Commission is reached will not increase the total cost of public education
from kindergarten to grade 12 or the State's share of that cost. For students attending a public charter
school authorized by a local school board or a collaborative of school
boards, the school administrative unit in which the student resides must
forward the per-pupil allocation for that student directly to the public
charter school pursuant to Title 20-A, section 2413. |
