The bill excludes
from the definition of "place of public accommodation" privately
owned and operated facilities that provide emergency shelter to women. The
bill includes General Fund appropriations of $121,034 in fiscal year 2021-22
and $119,124 in fiscal year 2022-23 to the Maine Human Rights Commission for
one part-time Attorney position and one part-time Investigator position, as
well as related All Other costs. These positions are necessary to handle an
expected increase in complaints and the need for legal counsel. |
