The bill excludes
from the definition of "place of public accommodation" privately
owned and operated facilities that provide emergency shelter to women. The
Maine Human Rights Commission will require General Fund appropriations of
$121,034 in fiscal year 2021-22 and $119,124 in fiscal year 2022-23 for one
part-time Attorney position and one part-time Investigator position, as well
as related All Other costs. These positions are necessary to handle an
expected increase in complaints and the need for legal counsel. |
