Fiscal Detail and Notes
The bill requires the health care practitioner who provides information to a pregnant woman to ensure that when she is consenting to an abortion that the consent is informed and to inform her that, at her request, an ultrasound may be administered. If the woman decides to get an ultrasound, this could lead to additional costs in the MaineCare program. As it is unknown how many women would request this ultrasound and how many of them would be on MaineCare, no estimate of the cost is made at this time.
