Costs to the
Permanent Commission on the Status of Racial, Indigenous and Maine Tribal
Populations to implement the requirements of this legislation and the ability
of the commission to absorb those costs within existing budgeted resources
can not be determined at this time.
The current cash balance in the Racial, Indigenous and Maine Tribal
Populations program account was $46,945.
LD 221, the 2022-2023 biennial budget, as amended by the May 2021
change package, includes General Fund appropriations of $495,035 per year
beginning in fiscal year 2021-22 to support the work of the commission. If approved by the Legislature, funding
should be sufficient for the commission to conduct the required review. |
